Supplies:
-
One Matchbox
-
3" black
or coordinating 1/8" wide ribbon
-
Rubber
Cement
-
Scissors
-
2 Images
of a Vintage Case
-
Felt Markers
-
Exacto
Knife
-
long sewing
needle with large eye
Directions:
-
Find images
for the front and back of the vintage case. I save them to a disk either
in .jpg or .gif format. I found all these images on the internet.
-
Using
Microsoft Greeting Card Workshop, I imported the pictures into the program
for making a "flyer".
-
Import
one image.
-
Reduce
the size of the image. This is tricky. You'll have to play around with
the dimensions and print a few out until you get the hang of how much reducing
you have to do to achieve the correct dimension.
-
Copy the
image. You'll need two images for each case you make. (a front and a back)
-
Print
the "flyer" out.
-
Cut out
the images.
-
Discard
the matches in the matchbox.
-
Glue one
to the front and one to the back of the matchbox.
-
Color
the top and sides of the matchbox with the markers to coordinate with the
background of the image.
-
Take the
drawer out.
-
Using
an Exacto knife or other sharp object, pierce two holes about 1/2" apart
on the top of the drawer. Don't make these holes too close to the edge
of the drawer.
-
Thread
the long needle with the 1/8" ribbon.
-
Using
a long needle, thread the ribbon through the holes.
-
Inside
the drawer tie a knot at the ends of each side of the ribbon.
Put
the drawer back into the matchbox.
