Topiary
Instructions

Supplies:
-
small
terracotta pots (available at most craft stores and discount stores with
craft section)
-
tacky
glue
-
small
9mm styrofoam balls
-
bamboo
skewers
-
gold spray
paint
-
dried
parsley flakes
-
polymer
clay (light color preferably)
-
small
stones
Directions:
-
Spray
paint the terracotta pots gold. Let dry.
-
Coat styrofoam
balls with tacky glue. Roll stryofoam balls in dried parsley flakes.
Let dry.
-
Cut bamboo
skewer to about 5" long. Spray paint gold. Let dry.
-
At the
bottom of the terracotta pot put a small piece of polymer clay to cover
the hole. A bit of hot glue would work also. Put a few small
stones at the bottom. This will weight the pot and keep it from tipping
over.
-
Place
the bamboo skewer into the center of the pot. Put more stones in
around the bamboo skewer to anchor it in place. Cover to the top
of the pot with more polymer clay.
-
Put the
stryofoam ball, now covered with the parsley flakes and dry, on the bamboo
skewer. One styrofoam ball will go about mid-center. The other
one should be placed immediately at the top of the bamboo skewer.
The look is a double topiary.
-
Spread
some tacky glue over the top of the pot on top of the polymer clay used
to anchor the stones and bamboo skewer in place. Sprinkle a generous
amount of dried parsley flakes on top of the glue. Let dry.
Tip:
Use a bit of rubber cement to adhere it to the resting place. This
way, they don’t fall over and can be easily removed without marring the
surface when you wish to put something else in place.
Tip:
You can glue red beads or a ribbon at the base to decorate. |
