The
Ski Chalet

Even though Spring 2000 has arrived, I'd like
to share the lobby of a Ski Chalet scene I created recently. Here's
an overall view of the entire room.
The stone fireplace I created from foamcore
board, balsa wood, and Snow-Tex (a textured medium used to add 'snow' to
village houses). I've adorned the fireplace with a mixture of gardening
stones and natural colored fish gravel. The hearth was covered with
dollhouse brick material. The fire was created from orange and red
feathers glued around small twigs. If you can follow along, click
HERE for some directions.
The fireplace tools on the right are from
a living room set I acquired a few years ago. You've seen this set
in previous scenes.
The mantle is accessorized with various pieces.
The clock is actually a pencil sharpener. I found this at a home
furnishings store called, Trees N' Things.
The bird statues were found in a Pocohantas
furniture set. The silvertone picture frame was a gift.
The potted plants and large vase were a
gift from my friend, MK in VA.
What ski chalet would be complete without
a moose head over the mantle? This one was created from carved wood
and is really a Christmas ornament, purchased at the Ben Franklin Craft
Store in 1999.
In the far left corner, you'll see skis, ski
poles, a sled and sledding disk. These were found at a flea market.
I am not sure who produced these.
The end table and lamp were found in the
same living room set as the fireplace tools.
