DisneyWorld
I
added an upright sign to the left of the scene. I glued two small
dollar store magnetic photo frames sandwiched together with a stand
constructed from a dollhouse spindle and wooden button. I spray
painted the entire fixture black. With my computer I printed a
sign saying "Kodak Photo Opportunity." I also included Snow
White's posing hours. Below the sign, I tacked on a ornate
scrapbook embellishment which had Snow White's name on it.
In order to avoid using doll stands
for Kelly and Tommy, I tacked a T-Pin through their shoes into the foam
core ground.
I added a drink stand to the left
of the souvenir cart. The drink bin was constructed from five
pieces of foam core board, which were covered in household aluminum
foil. I used two rinsed fast food sauce containers which were
filled with clear glass beads to simulate ice cubes. Before the
glue dried, I inserted faux soda and water bottles into the ice.
I printed a price point sign on my computer and printed it for the
front of the ice chest. I used metal rods with beads on the
bottom to raise the ice chest to counter height.
The souvenir cart is my favorite
fixture in this scene. The base was a wooden container that three
miniature liquor bottles were packaged in. I removed the bottles
and added four small dowels to each corner of the counter. I
inserted and glued a piece of balsa wood for the center shelf and added
a roof made from a piece of foam core board. I covered the roof
with a hemmed piece of striped polish cotton fabric to create an
awning. On the front of the base cabinet, I added four wooden
coffee stirrers. They were glued in two sets of two in an 'T'
shape. These became the book and magazine racks you see between
Barbie and Christie. I spray painted the entire fixture with a
light grey spray paint.
I scanned and miniaturized Disney magazines, videos, and books. I took shrink wrap and a hair dryer to package each book and video. You can barely see the sheen from the shrink wrap. The shelves were filled with Polly Pocket and other Micro Machine type Disney themed miniatures. I used a small computer as a cash register. The souvenir cart was decorated with display souvenirs from the front and back, though you can only see one view in the photos. I also scanned and miniaturized Disney shopping bags and dollar bills to complete the transaction. The last prop is a pin stand. Trading Disney pins that folks display in books or lanyards is a popular tradition at the parks. I couldn't let that go unmentioned in my scene. I constructed the pin stand the same way that I made the photo opportunity sign. I sandwiched two magnetic photo frames around a dollhouse spindle and button stand. I spray painted the entire fixture black and then scanned and duplicated my Disney pins and duplicated them into several rows. I printed out two in order to create a two-sided pin stand. You
